this song is equally fly. it is in 11/4 for crying out loud! (well not actually. it's written with time changes because playing 11/4 on the go like that would be...hard. there's an npr segment somewhere in which lin-manuel miranda (who is newly engaged!!!!!! go lin!) and tom kitt discuss the song.)
(oh here it is: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=105701828. lin's interviewing kitt and kander!!!! so cool)
i remember the first time i heard it and flipped out. it's so lyrical and flowing, and i'm just thinking "4 for you tom kitt you go tom kitt!". regardless of what people said to me on june 8th, my response was "tom kitt has two tony awards. your point is invalid."
enough banter. i'm pressing play.
(i so do not sound like Jenn! i'm also not necessarily trying to. if you want my Jenn impersonation, just ask me!)
also, ignore my flitting eyes! i've realized that one of the things i like about theatricality. your eyes should shift focus to include the entire audience. film is focused on singular points. which is awkward to do when you're blogging from the comfort of your rug and laptop.
oh, and sorry about those cracks :)
PS go see this show!!! it's brilliant! they have lotto, and the rmezz i hear is fantastic. one of the aforementioned sisters asked me on a scale of one to ten how hard i cried. i replied, "46." it cuts you deep, but it's so brilliant and powerful and by all means a necessary piece of theater. do yourself a favor and give it a looksee

this show is fly

look at them eyes!!!

i'm a fan of these fly mothers
